UPDATE:
A second person has died as a result of a snowmobile crash Isanti County Deputies responded to in the early morning hours of January 1st on the 2500 block of Paradise Trail NW in Bradford Township.
Hunter Melander, age 21, of Cambridge was operating the snowmobile at the time of the crash. Hunter was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Faith Nelson, age 21, of Cambridge was the passenger. She was transported to Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids where she later died of her injuries.
Investigators continue to investigate this crash. Preliminary investigation indicates that speed and impairment are possible contributing factors in this crash.

On January 1, 2023, at 12:50 am, deputies from the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 2500 block of Paradise Trail NW on a report of a single vehicle personal injury crash involving a snowmobile.
Upon arrival, law enforcement personnel located an adult male and an adult female involved in the crash. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene and life saving aid was provided to the female. She was transported to Mercy Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the two went out onto Lake Francis for a brief ride on the snowmobile. Upon exiting the lake, the male driver struck a tree.
This crash is being investigated by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office.
Units from the Isanti Fire District and Isanti Police Department assisted at the scene.
