A crash in Burnett County in the early hours of Saturday, Aug. 31, resulted in two deaths.
According to the Burnett County Sheriff's Office, dispatch was notified about a crash near 28624 East Bass Lake Road in Oakland Township around 2 a.m.
Deputies arriving at the scene located a single vehicle with three occupants.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Bloomington resident Layne Leitner, and the front passenger, 34-year-old White Bear Lake man Kyle Orloske, were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The third surviving passenger was extricated and transported to the hospital via Air Care.
Initial reports indicate that the vehicle traveled about 120 feet off the road before striking a tree.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
