Tigers Fall to Conference Foe Mora, in a High Scoring Affair

wcmpsports5

Rush City traveled to Mora on Thursday night.

The Mustangs and Tigers came together for not just a section matchup, but a newly formed conference battle.

Mora got off to a hot start, scoring first and pilling on the points early. They were able to get out to a double digit lead quickly. The Tigers took some time to get accommodated to the speed at which Mora played, but once they did they were able to match almost every score. In a half where offenses were the focal point, the defenses may have been overlooked. Though there were 92 total points scored in the 1st half, each team had their fair share of defensive stands. Rush City was able to mount a small comeback because of their efforts on that side of the ball. They got Mora to force some shots and did a good job to grab what seemed like every rebound. They cut their deficit under 20 and seemed to swing all momentum in their favor. But it didn't take long for Mora to get themselves back on track and pull back out to a 20 point lead. The Mustangs went into halftime with the lead 59-33.

The 2nd half started right where the 1st left off, offense, offense, and more offense. It was quite impressive to watch the two teams keep the pace they did. But eventually the Mustangs dominance showed and they took over and began to pull away. But even with the game seemingly in hand for Mora, the Tigers never hung their heads, and their effort was never in question. They continued to play hard throughout the entire game. Before the game ended, both teams were able to work in some depth players for varsity minutes. As the final buzzer sounded Mora came out on top 107-61.

The Mustangs improve to 15-1 on the season, 7-0 in the section and remain unbeaten in conference play. They will host Aitkin next Tuesday for another conference battle.

The Tigers fall to 4-11 with the loss and 1-3 in section play. They will host St. Cloud Cathedral on Monday.
