The Bookstore Opens in Pine City

A group gathered in front of The Bookstore Tuesday morning to welcome Pine City's newest business into the community.

Nestled between Nillson's Chiropractic and the Pine Center for the Arts on 5th street, Owner Dana Volkers Phillips says The Bookstore started after her daughter entered college, and she needed a new project.

"I didn't know what to do, so I prayed about it," Phillips told WCMP. "A bookstore is what came to me."

She said that the more she talked with the community, and the more research she put into it, the more excited she became at the prospect of bringing a bookstore to Pine City.

Being the only bookstore in the area, Phillips wanted to make sure that The Bookstore has something for everyone both new and used.

"We have all genres of books. We have a really great selection of children's books, some homeschool curriculum, lots of parenting books, as well as adult fiction and nonfiction. I tried to cater to everyone's tastes because there isn't another option around here," Phillips said.

Used books will be 15% off until Saturday, April 9 to celebrate the grand opening of The Bookstore.

Phillips said that they also plan on offering free programs this summer, so community members and patrons should keep an eye on their Facebook page for more information when it becomes available.
