Ted Hasz Recaps the Dragons 3-0 Week

Dragons reach 20 wins for the 4th season in a row and have clinched at least a share of the conference title with 3 conference games to play.


Pine City 76

As a team the Dragons dished out 23 assists and forced 28 turnovers on their way to a nice conference win over the Jaguars in their beautiful new high school gym. "The kids did a very nice job of moving the ball and finding our shooters in rhythm with their feet ready." The Dragons hit 15 three pointers in the game. Eight of the nine Dragons that scored in the game hit at least one three pointer. Ellie Hasz finished with 26 points, including 6 three pointers to go along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Sophie Lahti had 9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists. Alaina Steele had 8 points, 7 assists and 5 steals. Meredith Kolling had 7 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Lily Wilson had 7 points, 2 steals and 2 assists. Ashley Faur had 6 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Maddie Berglund had 5 points and 2 steals. Kloey Lind had 4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Makenna Nelson had 3 points, 1 steal, 1 assist and 1 rebound.

Milaca 52


The Dragons battled for a big section win in Milaca. "We faced a lot of adversity in the game with some foul trouble throughout." "Good teams find a way to win when things aren't going their way and I thought our kids battled a good Milaca team and got the job done." The game was back and forth throughout, with Milaca leading much of the first half. "We had a nice finish to the first half with the run that we had and were able to take some momentum with us into the locker room at half time." Pine City led 29-26 at half time. In the second half, the Dragons continued to lead and were able to knock down a lot of big free throws to clinch the win. "We went 28 for 34 at the free throw line. That will win a team a lot of games." Sophie Lahti was 9 for 11 at the line and finished with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Ellie Hasz went 10 for 11 at the line and finished with 17 points and 3 rebounds. Alaina Steele had 8 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Lily Wilson had 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Meredith Kolling had 7 points and 7 rebounds.Kloey Lind had 4 points and 4 rebounds. Ashley Faur had 2 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

East Central 56


After a big win in Milaca the night before, the Dragons were on the road for the third time in 5 days to take on the second place team in the Great River Conference. "It is tough to play three games in 5 days especially if all three are on the road." "We were proud of the kids for finding a way to get the job done against a very scrappy East Central team who came into the game with a very good 15-5 record." Throughout the game, the Dragons were a couple possessions from breaking it open, but the Eagles kept hitting big shots to keep themselves in the game. The Dragons led 29-19 at half time and were up by as many as 15 in the second half, but East Central battled the whole game. The Dragons had very balanced scoring with 5 players in double figures. Lily Wilson had 14 points, 6 assists and 3 steals. Sophie Lahti had 14 points and 5 steals. Ellie Hasz had 11 points and 6 rebounds. Ashley Faur had 10 points and 7 rebounds. Meredith Kolling had 10 points and 6 rebounds. Alaina Steele had 4 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. The Dragons also had some very good minutes off the bench from Makenna Nelson and Kloey Lind.

"It was another good week for our program." " We have 5 more games to get ready for a run in the playoffs."
