Sturgeon Lake public water access project funded by DNR initiative is completed

A Sturgeon Lake public water access project was the first effort funded by the Minnesota DNR’s Get Out More initiative to be completed.

According to a DNR news release, the site reopened for public use on August 16th.

The Sturgeon Lake public water access site has a new parking lot with 24 spaces, two new boat ramps, a floating dock, improved stormwater management, and an aquatic invasive species cleanout lane for trailers and boats.

During the fall, the DNR will monitor the site to ensure that stormwater management is working properly, and that grass seeding and tree plantings are faring well.

The DNR received a $150 million appropriation in 2023 to update and improve outdoor recreation in the state.
