A Rush City school bus driver was arrested for DWI on Thursday morning.
According to a Chisago County Sheriff’s Office press release, law enforcement was notified of a Rush City Public Schools bus that went off the roadway on Game Avenue, north of Tiger Trail in Rush City, around 8:15.
When authorities arrived in minutes to assist with scene coordination, a Chisago County sergeant observed signs of alcohol impairment on the driver.
The release states that 49 students were on the bus, and none were injured. A backup bus arrived, and the students were safely brought to school.
The deputies continued their investigation of the bus that went off the road and booked the driver, Harris resident Kara Ffrench, into the Chisago County jail for suspicion of DWI.
The case is being investigated by the sheriff’s office and Rush City Public Schools administration.
