48-year-old Mark Kosloski was sentenced earlier this week in a sexual assault case involving former students.
The Rush City man was charged with sexually assaulting two students while he was a coach at North Lakes Academy last spring. He pled guilty to two counts of third-degree sexual assault in September of 2021.
On Monday, February 14, Kosloski was sentenced in both cases, where he received 36 months in one case and 48 months in the other. Court records say he will both sentences concurrently, and he will have to register as a predatory offender for the rest of his life.
Both Kosloski and North Lakes Academy in Forest Lake are being sued by one of the victims, who was 17 at the time of the assault. The lawsuit alleges that North Lakes Academy did not properly check Kosloski's criminal history.
They cite a 1999 case from St. Croix County, Wis., where Kosloski was convicted of fourth-degree sexual assault. He reportedly had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old student that he was coaching. The lawsuit also noted that two of Kosloski's prior minor victims were identified on the witness list in that case.
The lawsuit is asking for in excess of $50,000 for lost wages, pain and suffering, medical expenses, and court costs.
