The Rush City Council approved an amended ordinance directing where commercial trucks can drive within the city.
Previously, commercial trucks driving through the city to the industrial park drove on 4th Street and turned onto Frandsen Ave. Residents who live along the route told the city they were being affected by the noise from the large vehicles.
The city held a public hearing on May 9 to amend the ordinance. Now, semi-trucks will turn sooner if they are coming from I35, turning onto Fairfield Ave and then onto County Toad 7 to get to the industrial park.
The city will have signs posted designating the new route.
Trucks specifically delivering to businesses outside of the designated truck route will be exempt from the change.
