Brian Masterson has accepted an offer to be the next Superintendent of the Hinckley-Finlayson School District.
According to the school board, 10 candidates applied for the position. They selected Masterson after interviewing him and one other finalist.
"He has over 20 years of experience in education. We believe he will be a great leader for students, staff, and community" stated School Board Chair Jodi Storlie.
Masterson currently serves as the Principal for the Hinckley-Finlayson High School and is in his 11th year working in the district.
"It's exciting for me personally," Superintendent Rob Prater told WCMP. "I hired Brian when I first started as Superintendent, and I've seen just him grow. He's an excellent educator and a leader."
Prater will be leaving the district at the end of his contract to become the Superintendent of the Ashland, Wis. School District.
Masterson says that he is humbled by the support he's received.
"I can't wait to continue the great work that we are doing in the Hinckley and Finlayson communities."
The school board and Masterson will now negotiate a contract, which Chair Storlie believes will be ready by the school board meeting on April 11.
Masterson will then have the spring to work with Rob Prater to transition into his new role as Superintendent and select his replacement as the HFHS Principal.
