Playoff Volleyball Outlook

The postseason is here!

Here's a look at how our local teams were seeded and who, when and where they'll play in the playoffs.

Class A

Section 5A East

#2 Mille Lacs 17-10

The Raiders have 4 seniors but overall a fairly young team. Despite some inexperience, they played a strong regular season and clinched the number 2 seed. They will host Hill City/Northland on Wednesday at 7PM at Onamia High School.

#4 Braham 13-14

The Bombers only grew stronger as the season wore on. Which is not easy to do with a new head coach. One game under .500 but they will be one of the tougher teams to knock out of the playoffs. They'll host Upsala on Wednesday at 7PM.

#6 East Central 13-14

The Eagles are a team that had a great turn around this season. Finishing the season only one game under .500. A veteran lead team they'll be another team that won't be an easy out. They'll play at Pine River-Backus on Wednesday at 7PM.

#8 Ogilvie 4-18

The Lions have several seniors but still some inexperience. They play in the play in round tonight vs McGregor at 7PM. If they win they'll play at Swanville on Wednesday night.

Class AA

Section 6

#5 Milaca 18-8

The Wolves had a tough schedule which they played strong through. A lot of veterans on this team so it's no surprise this team has played so well. They'll host Pierz on Wednesday at 7PM.

#9 Foley 11-12

The Falcons have a good mix of younger and veteran players. There have certainly been some growing pains, but they'll have the chance to show their growth on Wednesday. They'll play against St. Cloud Cathedral in St. Cloud.

Section 7

#1 Rush City 24-3

The Tigers have a lot of youth on this team. But were lead by two seniors who helped the younger athletes grow. They once again claimed the top seed this year. They'll host Hinckley-Finlayson on Wednesday at 7PM.

#3 Mora 14-12

The Mustangs are another team who have had a good turn around this year with a new coach. They have played very few games in which they were outmatched. Because of this they claim the third seed and will host Duluth Marshall on Wednesday at 6PM.

#7 Pine City 6-21

The Dragons might surprise some teams in the playoffs. Their record doesn't reflect how talented they are. They'll be on the road in Esko on Wednesday at 6PM.

#8 Hinckley-Finlayson 4-19

The Jaguars made some noise at the end of the season, they seemed to find their rhythm. They'll have a tough first round matchup at Rush City on Wednesday.

Class AAA

Section 4

#4 Chisago Lakes 9-18

The Wildcats play in a tough conference seeing top teams nearly every time they hit the court. They were able to claim the 4th seed and now get to host St. Paul Harding on Wednesday at 6PM.

Section 7

#1 North Branch 23-5

The Vikings have been dominate all year long. They'll look to carry the momentum into the playoffs. They get the first round by and host the winner of Grand Rapids and Rock Ridge next Monday at 6PM.

#3 Princeton 22-4

The Tigers were just edged out by Hermantown for the 2nd seed but the Hawks didn't lose a section game, which proved to be the difference. But the Tigers will still get a favorable matchup on Wednesday vs Cloquet at 6PM.

Class AAAA

Section 7

#6 Cambridge-Isanti 13-14

Another team with a good amount of seniors but still some inexperience. The Bluejackets will play a first round match at Forest Lake on Thursday at 7PM.
