The Lady Dragons are competing at State! Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt tell us how the team performed.
The Dragon girls finished their season with a 3rd place finish at the state tournament. These girls played well and were so fun to watch.
We are so proud of them! They came determined to battle hard. Even though the loss to Blake match was not what we wanted, they dug in to finish the last match with a dominant showing!
In the 3rd place match, the team all focused and came out strong. Some individual highlights:
At first singles, Brooke had to battle at the net to beat her opponent. At second singles, Allison kept her opponent moving and dictated the match with her smart shots and aggressive play. Lena was strong and battled hard for each point, kept the ball deep, and created an opportunity to capitalize with her shot selection. Lily battled hard at 4th singles against a very consistent player. In doubles, the first double duo (Mikyska/Youngbauer) were strong and a force at the net with their overheads. Second doubles (Valvoda/Linnell) used their shot selection and movement to dominate. Our third doubles (Lahti/Unverzagt) played their best tennis of the season at the state tournament!
What a season! Words cannot describe how proud we are of them and all they have accomplished. They had high expectations of themselves and each other. Their attention to detail, desire to get better each day, and willingness to work hard led them to this great opportunity!
Individuals will play tomorrow (10/26). Singles begin at 8AM and doubles at 10AM.
