Pine City fills council vacancy; city administrator takes new position

Pine City has tapped a familiar face to fill a vacancy on the city council.

Mary Kay Sloan will be sworn in as a council member at a special meeting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Sloan was elected to the Pine City Council in 2010, and did not seek re-election when her term ended in 2022, according to prior municipal voting results.

She will finish the term on the seat vacated by former council member Steve Ovick, who resigned effective Nov. 27. That term is up in 2024.

The council held interviews to fill the open seat at a special meeting on Jan. 24.

In other city personnel developments, the Saint Paul Pioneer Press has reported that Pine City Administrator Scott Hildebrand has taken the same job in Landfall Village, Minn.

According to the minutes of a late-2023 Landfall Village special meeting, the city provisionally offered Hildebrand the position on Dec. 11t.
