Pine City Falls to Conference Foe Crosby-Ironton

wcmpsports5

The Dragons hosted Crosby on Friday night.

On paper these two teams were even in many different categories. Pine City was hoping to get another conference win at home.

The Rangers were able to score first, but Pine City didn't take longer to answer with a bucket of their own. Crosby was able to pull out to nearly a double digit lead but the Dragons quickly closed the gap. The teams were close until about the halfway mark of the 1st half. That's when Crosby started to make nearly every shot they took. Whether it was from inside the paint, a corner three or a three from downtown, it was all falling for the Rangers. All this despite some decent defending from the Dragons, it seemed like no matter the coverage they had, Crosby was draining everything. Unfortunately for the Dragons, their offense just couldn't match some of the magic their opponent had. The Rangers were able to take a 47-20 lead at the half.

The 2nd half moved swiftly, and the Rangers offense moved at the same pace. Crosby continued their offensive dominance throughout the rest of the game. Once again, Pine City couldn't match what the Rangers were able to accomplish offensively. The Dragons were able to get in some of their younger bench players for some valuable varsity minutes. But the Rangers were able to come out on top 73-42.

The Dragons fall to 5-10 on the season, they will play another conference game on Tuesday night in Braham.
