Pine City Falls in Section Matchup to Milaca

The Dragons boys basketball team hosted Milaca Tuesday night.

Pine City came into the game looking for their first section win of the season. The game started on the right foot for the green and white. Their defense came up with some big stops and the offense kept pushing the pace and hit a good amount of shots from beyond the arc. Just as it looked like the Dragons might pull away, the Wolves changed up their defense and started to create turnovers. Milaca was able to score on many of the takeaways and shifted momentum in their favor. They began to pull away and lead by double digits twice. But Pine City was not going into the half quietly, they cut their deficit back under double digits and held Milaca from getting it back. Milaca was up at halftime 40-31.

The Wolves momentum continued in the 2nd half, and their defense was once again a big reason why. The offense complimented the defense well, as they pour on the points. The Dragons fought hard but the offense was just not as potent in the 2nd, and their defense played well but couldn't create turnovers. Milaca wound up pulling and won the game 75-57.

With the loss the Dragons now sit a 4-18 on the season. They'll host their final two home games Thursday vs Mille Lacs and Friday vs Rush City.

Milaca picks up their 4th win on the season and their 2nd section win. Their last three games of the season are at home, this Thursday vs St. Cloud Cathedral, next Monday vs Albany and next Thursday vs Legacy Christian Academy.
