Lady Dragons tennis Head Coach Kristin Unverzagt tells us about the action from Saturday's quad tournament.
The girls tennis team had another great day as we hosted Chisago Lakes, Minnewaksa, and New London-Spicer. Individual scores were sent via tennis reporting. The final match was cut short due to rain, so that is why the score was 4-1.
We started the day with a strong win over Chisago Lakes. The girls came ready to play and started strong. They dictated the points and the pace of the game to play to their strengths.
In the second round, we played Minnewaska who is currently ranked 10th in class A. We also played strong and dictated the matches with our shot selection and pace. The girls played well with determination.
In our final round, the rain cut our first doubles and second singles matches short, but we won with an overall 4-1 score. New London-Spicer is currently ranked 4th in class A so this was a big match for us. The girls worked hard to come out strong. Our first point came from Lily Struss at 4th singles. She worked hard and stayed focused to control the game. Our second point was a tight battle at three doubles with Vivian Lahti and Kate Unverzagt. The 3rd doubles team played well and continue to improve each time they step on the court. Our third point came from second doubles, Lexa Valvoda and Alana Linnell, as they continue to dominate with their aggressive play. The match win was solidified with a win at one singles as Brooke played smart and moved the ball well.
Overall, this was a great day for our team. We continue to be so proud of them. They are a driven group that support and push each other to continually improve. They have fun on the court and this shines through in their success and willingness to work hard.
We will host Pierz at PCHS next Thursday and the JV will travel to Pierz.
