The Pine City Council voted to publish a request for proposals from interested developers for the courthouse at 315 Main Street at Thursday’s meeting.
As part of the vote, the council also agreed to keep utilities and heat on over the winter, and use a team of volunteers to sell or dispose of unwanted items left in the courthouse.
Economic development coordinator Lezlie Sauter was named the point of contact for prospective developers.
With ongoing building maintenance, the council will continue to hold meetings at 315 Main Street for the near future.
Mayor Kent Bombard said the council chambers will still have connectivity to the internet and security while other areas of the building are being cleaned out.
The closing date for the RFP is Feb. 3, 2025. The motion passed 3 to 1, with council member Dave Hill voting no.
