At approximately 2:23 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2023, Burnett County
Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call from a male subject requesting a response to remove children from a Village residence. The caller further advised he had killed Brittany L. Hollan, 32, of Siren, WI.
Upon entering the residence, officers located one deceased adult and four unharmed children. The children and neighbors were removed for safety concerns. Upon a sweep of the home, Hollan was found deceased in her bedroom with apparent trauma to the upper body. Hollan’s family has been notified of her death. An autopsy confirmed Hollan died from sharp force trauma to the head and neck.
The residence in Siren was processed and sealed for investigative purposes. A search for a male suspect identified as David L. Edaburn, Jr., 36, was started. He was subsequently located at his residence in the Town of Grantsburg, WI. Burnett County, Sawyer County and Washburn County Emergency Teams were activated and a perimeter set around the residence. Once the Emergency Response Teams arrived on scene, Edaburn turned himself over to law enforcement without incident.
Edaburn is being held at the Burnett County Jail on $1,000,000 bond, pending charges of First Degree Intentional Homicide. The incident is currently being investigated as a murder. It remains an open investigation as personnel from the Siren Police Department continue to look into the circumstances of the case. No further statements will be released at this time.
