Jaguars Fall to Esko

The Hinckley-Finlayson girls hosted Esko on Monday night.

This game featured two teams who were younger and inexperienced, than years past, but still have plenty of talent. Both teams took some time to shake out some of the jitters, but once they settled in it turned into a shootout. Early on it was the turnovers and defense that stole the show. Each team had double digit steals but also close to double digit turnovers that were not steals. But again late in the half the offenses began to find their spark. The Jags had a small deficit to overcome and did so tying the game at 21. But Esko would go on an 18-6 run to end the half leading 39-27.

The 2nd half did not go as well for the Jags, fatigue seemed to play a factor for them as Esko continued to play press defense to force them into running more. Although they didn't score as many points as they did in the 1st half, they continued to play hard and gave everything they had. Esko would win up pulling away for the win 78-47. The Jags still had plenty of good things to take away from this game, and will certainly grow and get better.

For Hinckley-Finlayson they will play Braham on Tuesday night, and finish the week off at home on Friday against Ogilvie.
