On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at approximately 8:30 a.m., the Grand Casino Hinckley Security team observed a suspicious object in a section of the property. Pine County Law enforcement was called immediately to investigate the suspicious object.
Out of an abundance of caution, the area was cleared of Guests and Associates, a thorough sweep was conducted of the rest of the casino property, and the St. Paul Police Department Bomb Squad was called.
The St. Paul Police Department Bomb Squad arrived to Grand Casino Hinckley at 11:11 a.m., and after a review of the object, it was determined there was no threat, and immediately disposed of the item. The scene cleared at approximately 11:30 am.
The suspect was quickly identified as 37-year-old, Jeremy Korwes of Hinckley. He was taken into custody near his residence without incident and was booked into the Pine County jail pending formal charges.
Law enforcement does not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public and the scene was declared safe. The Pine County Sheriff’s Office responded along with the Saint Paul Police Department.
