After a year off due to the pandemic, Pine City's Freedom Fest kicks off today.
The annual event begins with the Pine Technical and Community College BBQ and car show, which runs from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A bulk of the pomp and circumstance is held on Saturday, June 26. There will be a triathlon, classic car show, live music for both kids and adults, food, vendors, fireworks, and street dance for community members to stop by and enjoy.
Executive Director Becky Schueller says this year has been a whirlwind of activity for organizing. Normally the planning begins in February. Due to covid concerns, the chamber began on May 1.
"It's been a crazy six weeks of reaching out to our partners," Schueller told WCMP. "It's really been nice to see the community pull together and bring the event back to what it has been in the past."
Events have been added to the lineup as early as Monday of this week, so checking the Pine City Chamber of Commerce website or Facebook page is the best way to keep up to date.
