Residents in the City of Sandstone may have noticed a difference in their water after a piece of equipment in their water treatment plant failed.
According to city staff, the difference was caused by a failed electrical component in the controls for the pump that supplies the water distribution system. Users may have noted their water becoming more alkaline, described as feeling slippery or soapy.
The part was replaced on April 12; the water tower was flushed between April 12 and 13.
The city said there were no health concerns with the issue, and the water should have returned to normal.
