The Mora Mustangs hosted the Pine City Dragons last night.
The Mustangs came into the game with a gameplan to use their team speed against the Dragons. Even though Pine City had an early lead, Mora kept up with them. But about half way through the 1st half with the game at 14-9 the Dragons took control. Pine City scored 38 more points before the end of the half, while holding Mora to just 10. The Dragons came into the 2nd half with a 52-19 lead and momentum on their side. The final half was more of the same, the Dragons dominated play and Mora wasn’t able to catch up. The Dragons got the victory 74-32. Ellie Hasz lead the Dragons in scoring with 23, followed by Lily Wilson with 17 and Sophie Lahti with 13. Jaiden Robb lead Mora with 12 points and Miryah Stone scored 11. A bright spot for the Mustangs is they never gave up, even when the game was out of hand they showed a lot of want, will, and passion and played hard until the final buzzer.
With the win Pine City moves to 9-1 on the season. Next up for Pine City, they will play Mountain Iron-Buhl in the Lake Superior Classic in Duluth on Saturday. That game will start at 245pm. Mora drops to 2-9 on the season. The Mustangs will play their third game of the week tonight, when the travel to Foley to battle the Falcons. Tip off for that game is at 715pm.
