Chisago County inmate apprehended shortly after escaping custody

A Chisago County inmate was apprehended after escaping from custody in the early hours of Thursday morning.
According to a Chisago County Sheriff's Office news release, an inmate identified as 46-year-old Donald Warner reportedly escaped from custody at approximately 1:30 a.m.
The release states that Warner fled from the jail while under supervision during routine trash duty.
A coordinated response was launched with multiple law enforcement agencies, and Warner was located and taken into custody without incident about one mile away from the jail just after 3 a.m.
Warner is awaiting trial on first-degree criminal sexual conduct charges. He will likely face additional charges after the escape attempt.
An internal review is underway to determine how the escape happened.
The Lakes Area Police Department, Wyoming Police Department, North Branch Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Forest Lake Police Department, Blaine Police Department, and the Coon Rapids Police Department assisted in the effort to locate and apprehend Warner.
