Child recovered in non-custodial abduction case in Grantsburg

A four-year-old child was recovered on Friday morning after the Grantsburg Police Department was notified about a non-custodial abduction case.


According to a news release, the Grantsburg police and Burnett County Sheriff's Office received a report that a woman identified as 45-year-old Kelly Neuman abducted the child and fled at a high rate of speed around 7:43 a.m.


A missing child alert was broadcast, and the Siren Police Department, state patrol, Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation, and FBI provided resources in the investigation and area search.


At 11:10 a.m., a Burnett County deputy and state trooper located the suspect driving on State Road 70 near the Minnesota border.


The vehicle was stopped, and the child was recovered and said to be unharmed.


Neuman was arrested and booked in the Burnett County jail on charges of kidnapping and felony interference with the custody of a child.
