A Burnett County patrol deputy was presented the Live Saving Award on Thursday for his efforts in helping a seven-month old child.
According to sheriff Tracy Finch, Noah Barker responded to an emergency call about a baby having difficulty breathing on Sept. 25.
Barker arrived before EMS and was able to clear a round, plastic object out of the baby’s throat.
Finch said the infant was choking on a tab that came off a book while their grandmother was watching them.
In the commendation letter, Finch wrote: "If it wasn't for your quick and calm response, coupled with training, this child could have been seriously injured or worse."
