The Minnesota Burea of Criminal Apprehension has released the name of the man who was shot and killed by law enforcement on Sunday, February 21.
According to the Midwest Medical Examiners Officer, Dominick Lucas Koch, 27, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, died of homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds. Koch was killed by police following a car chase and shootout that ended near the City of Braham on Highway 65.
The incident also left Anoka K9 Bravo with gunshot wounds. After treatment at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center, Bravo was released to recover at home. The bullet reportedly nicked the K9's trachea, causing soft tissue damage.
The Anoka County District Attorney also announced charges for the second suspect arrested at the scene. Joseph William Heroff of Hudson Wisconsin is facing two felony charges for first-degree aggravated robbery and fleeing police in a motor vehicle.
His bail was set at $500,000.
Heroff's next court appearance is scheduled for March 15.
Once the BCA investigation into the shooting is completed, the BCA will present its findings without recommendation to the Isanti County Attorney’s Office for review.
