8 Run Second Inning Propels Pine City Past I. Falls

The Dragons second game of the day Tuesday was against the #12 seeded International Falls.

It was another rough start for Pine City. They faced seven batters in the 1st, gave up 2 hits, 2 walks and surrendered 2 runs. Once at the plate they were unable to match the two runs they gave up and quickly moved on to the 2nd inning. Luckily for Pine City starting pitcher Bryce Erickson was able to use a pickoff move to grab the first out and it seemed to have give them some energy. The bottom of the 2nd was all Pine City. They brought 13 batters to the plate scored 8 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks. They brought another two runs across the plate, one in the third and one in the fourth.

The 6th inning saw I. Falls swing momentum back they way. After bringing 6 batters to the plate they only managed to score one run, but that one run seemed to have stolen the energy the Dragons once had. In the bottom of the 6th the Dragons saw only 3 batters make an at bat and 2 of them struck out. All of a sudden despite a 7 run lead, the Broncos had things leaning in their favor. The Dragons made quick work of the first two batters before walking the third. Luckily, the fourth batter popped out and ended the game in Pine City's favor 10-3.

The Dragons will play Esko in Esko on Thursday at 11am. If they win they'll be in the semi final, lose and they'll have to play in the elimination bracket at 4pm against the winner or Mora vs I. Falls.
