A four-year-old boy is in critical condition after a head-on crash in Chisago County on Friday evening.
According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, a collision was reported on Rush Lake Trail, south of Belle Isle Drive in Nessel Township, around 6:18 p.m.
Initial information indicated there were seven victims between the two vehicles.
Investigators believe a Chevrolet Cruze traveling northbound crossed over the center line and struck a Chrysler Pacifica head-on.
Impairment is believed to be a factor, and toxicology reports are pending.
The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 36-year-old Ashlee Klapperick, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. One passenger, a four-year-old boy, remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The second passenger, a three-year-old, has been released from the hospital and is in protective care.
Chisago County deputies have taken Klapperick into custody.
The four occupants of the Chrysler, a female driver and three juvenile passengers, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Lakes Region EMS, North Memorial Air Care, Life Link III, the Minnesota State Patrol, Rush City Fire Department, and Allina Health EMS also assisted at the scene.
