North Branch battled Belle Plaine tonight in the state semi final game.
The Vikings had their toughest match of the post season against the Tigers. Belle Plaine looked to get their second upset of the state tournament. It was a back and forth game: North Branch won set one 25-19, Belle Plaine took set two 25-18, North Branch set three 25-20, Belle Plaine set four 25-23, and in the fifth and final set the Vikings won 15-9. North Branch will head to the state championship game for the third straight year. The Vikings will face Stewartville in the championship game, in hopes of repeating as state champs.
