The Pine City girls tennis team played Virginia in the section semifinals yesterday.
The Dragons played fearless in a close match against Virginia but came up just short losing 3-4. As the season ends for the team head coach Kristin Unverzagt said, “I am so proud of the girls! They improved each time we set on the court each day this season and finished strong! I appreciate their efforts and willingness to get better. They are an awesome group of young women!” The Dragons have, Ella Sell, Lydia Adams, and the doubles team of Maddie Berglund/Katie Miller competing in the individual section tournament today.

Lydia Adams over Anna Seitz: 6-3, 6-1
Ella Sell lost a tough battle with Ava Warren: 3-6, 1-6
Addison Sell lost a tough battle with Mary Skorich: 0-6, 2-6
Lily Struss lost a tough battle with Megan Kingston: 0-6, 2-6
Katie Miller/Maddie Berglund won over Anneka Lungren/Jacie Smith: 6-1, 6-1
Sophie Lahti/Allison Unverzagt won over Izzy Baggenstoss/Jayda Westerbur: 3-6, 7-5, 6-1
Claire Emmons/Malia Mikyska lost a close battle with Sydney Cope-Robinson/Abby Moore: 6-7, 3-6
