Hinckley-Finlayson Defense Held East Central Scoreless

Hinckley-Finlayson traveled to East Central High School to play the Eagles on Friday night. Even though this game was played at East Central the Jaguars were the home team, due to their home field being repaired. But that did not affect the Jaguars.

Hinckley-Finlayson would open up the scoring on their first drive of the game with a rushing touchdown from Cole Baran. The two point conversion was no good. A few drives later the Eagles would march down the field and get themselves into scoring position. But the drive would come to a screeching halt when the Eagles fumbled the ball on the five yard line and would be recovered by the Jaguars. Each defense stepped up and didn’t allow another point to be scored in the first half.

Coming out in the second half, the Jaguars offense would find its rhythm. A touchdown catch by Lathaniel Kroschel on a frozen rope pass from Cedric Lafave plus a two point conversion would extend their lead 14-0. But as the Jaguars found rhythm, the Eagles struggled to get anything going on offense and would not score a single point in the game. The Jaguars would push their lead up 20-0 on a 49 yard rushing touchdown by Ashton Hosler. The Eagles had one last chance to come back late in the fourth quarter, but that was stopped by an interception on fourth down. The interception would sealed the victory for the Jaguars.

The Jaguars are now 1-1 on the season. For their next game Hinckley-Finlayson travels to Chisholm on Friday September 13th, kickoff at 7pm. East Central Eagles are 0-2 on the season. The Eagles hope to get their first win of the season as they host Barnum on Friday September 13th at 7pm.
