The high school football season is now halfway over. This is where each team stands after the first four weeks.
Pine City 1-3
QRF Ranking: 38th in State 5th in Section 5AAA
The Dragons are now on a three game losing streak after losing to Aitkin 24-12. Pine City has yet to play a team that looked significantly better than them on the field but are consistently making a couple mistakes that are costing them the wins. The Dragons are looking forward to their homecoming matchup this Friday against Esko. The Eskomos are 0-4 and have lost games to GNK and Two Harbors. This is a good chance for Pine City to get back in the win column and start the second half of the season on a good note.
Braham 3-1
QRF Ranking: 16th in State 1st in Section 7A
After losing in week one the Bombers are cruising with three straight victories. They look to be in good shape to win their district and possibly get back to the State Tournament. This Friday will be a good challenge for Braham as they take on Deer River at home. This has the makings of being a preview of the Section 7A Championship game.
Rush City 0-3
QRF Ranking: 58th in State 7th in Section 4AA
Rush City has their best chance of picking up a win this season at home against East Central. It's homecoming for the Tigers and they are playing an Eagles team that is also looking for its first win of the season. It doesn't get easier after this week for Rush City they end the season against Mesabi, Hinckley, and Deer River. Three teams that will give the Tigers some problems. If they want to win they need to do it this week against East Central.
Hinckley-Finlayson 0-4
QRF Ranking: 49th in State 4th in Section 7A
The struggles continued for Hinckley-Finlayson last Friday losing to Deer River 23-8. It is rare that the Jaguars find themselves at the bottom of Section 7A and right now they are just above East Central. It is not going to be easy for Hinckley-Finlayson this week as they travel to Barnum. The Bombers are 3-1 and have big wins over East Central and Mesabi East.
East Central 0-3
QRF Ranking: 57th in State 5th in Section 7A
East Central used its week off to start getting ready to spoil the Rush City Tiger's homecoming. The Eagles have lost by double-digit numbers in each of their first three games. They head on the road to take on Rush City this week who is also looking for their first win of the season. Last year East Central beat Rush City 14-0 and they will look to try to do the same this year.
Mora 4-0
QRF Ranking: 10th in State 3rd in Section 5AAA
The Mustangs continued their winning ways on Friday with a dominating effort over Crosby-Ironton. Mora is a perfect 4-0 to start the season and looking ahead with games against Pine City, MLWR, Esko and Aitkin it looks like Mora has a very good chance of ending this season undefeated. Things are looking very good for Mora right now.
North Branch 2-2
QRF Ranking: 25nd in State 5th in Section 7AAAA
North Branch got back in the win column with an impressive 18-14 win over Cloquet last Friday night. The Lumberjacks were undefeated coming into the game and had an impressive showing in the State Tournament just a year ago. The win catapulted them 7 spots in the State QRF Rankings. There is a good possibility that North Branch sees Cloquet in the playoffs too. The Vikings now host Hibbing. Who is 3-1 but their one loss was 40-0 against Cloquet.
Cambridge-Isanti 4-0
QRF Ranking: 8th in State 2nd in Section 7AAAAA
