After losing their final game of the season on Friday night and splitting the conference title the Jaguars have earned the #1 seed in Section 5A. Hinckley-Finlayson finished the regular season with a record of 22-4 and a perfect section record of 10-0.
The Jaguars will look to improve off last year's Section Tournament when they lost right away in the second round against Crosby-Ironton. Hinckley-Finlayson will either play Upsala or Isle depending on who wins Monday night's game.
Braham also gets a home game in the quarterfinals hosting #5 East Central.
In a new-look Section 6AA Pine City will host Holdingford in the first round. The section voted to change to just one 16-team bracket instead of splitting into two sub-sections like they had done year's previous. This proves problematic to area teams like Pine City who will receive an #8 seed instead of getting the #2 seed in the sub-section. If the Dragons are able to get through Holdingford they will likely see a second round matchup with #1 seed Annandale right away.
Dragon fans and players will hold on to the fact that the team is playing the best basketball it has ever played. If Pine City shoots the ball and plays defense like they did in the season finale win against Hinckley-Finlayson, Pine City will be able to upset some teams and come out of this bracket.
Elsewhere in the section Rush City will travel to Annandale for their first round game and Mora will go on the road to take on St. Cloud Cathedral.
