Boys Hockey
The Pine City Area Dragons advanced to the Section 5A Semifinals with a 5-2 win over Sauk Rapids-Rice on Thursday night. The boys started off strong leaning on their senior leader, Jonah Bergstrom, who scored two goals right away in the first period. Bergstrom now has thirty goals on the season.
The Storm were not going away quietly as they answered back with a goal of their own making it 2-1. The Dragons needed an answer and the looked to Bergstrom again. This time, it was Dusty Bergstrom who netted a beautiful bar-down goal making it 3-1. Daymin Dodge for the Storm scored shorthanded putting Sauk-Rapids right back into the game 3-2. Then just a few minutes later the Dragons were right there to extend their lead on a Logan Johnson power play goal.
Pine City would hold a 4-2 lead into the third period. The third period was back and forth, but Alex Laven kept the Storm out of the back of the net and Jan Zahradka put the game out of reach making it 5-2 and giving the Dragons the Victory.
