Late Tuesday afternoon a Pine County man was killed in an avalanche while he was snowmobiling near West Yellowstone in Montana.
40-year-old Weylon Wiedemann of Pine City was killed by the avalanche on the west side of Sage Peak, in the southern Madison Range.
The Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center said Wiedemann triggered the avalanche and was buried under three feet of snow.
While rescue crews dug him out in 15 minutes, he died at the scene.
