It took more than 51 minutes last night, but the Pine City Area Dragons were able to knock off Section 5A Rival Chisago Lakes 2-1 in overtime. Jonah Bergstrom opened up the scoring for Pine City ripping a beautiful unassisted goal early in the first period. Pine City would hold that 1-0 lead throughout the entire second period fighting off six minutes of penalties. Late in the third period Chisago Lakes would tie the score up forcing an overtime period. It only took about 1:30 into overtime before sophomore defenseman Dusty Bergstrom scored his third goal of the season and his first ever game winning goal! His brother, Jonah, assisted on the goal. Sophomore goalie Alex Laven has earned an everyday role as the Dragons starting goalie making 22 saves on 23 shots. Pine City beat Chisago Lakes for the first time since the 2008-2009 season. The Dragons improve to 5-3 on the season after 5 straight wins. The Dragons next game is Saturday at 1:00 against Cambridge-Isanti.
