19-year-old Justin Tomasko was sentenced earlier this month after he was arrested in 2021 for stabbing a juvenile over a stolen vape.
According to the criminal complaint, the stabbing happened during an altercation in the parking lot near the Pine County Fairgrounds during fair week.
It was during the altercation over the stolen vape pen that the victim was punched in the chest before being stabbed in the arm twice by Tomasko, who was reportedly wielding a knife with a four to five-inch blade.
The victim was treated for his injuries at Essential Health in Sandstone.
Tomasko was charged with felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and misdemeanor fifth-degree assault.
In June of this year, Tomasko pled guilty to the felony assault charge.
He was sentenced on December 12 to 27 months in prison with a credit for 154 days already served.
In his monthly segment on WCMP, Pine County Attorney Reese Frederickson said the sentencing order was within the guideline sentence set by the State Legislature.
